Perverted Prayer: The Holy Desire

Perverted Prayer transformed the rooftop of a home in a quiet Bangkok neighbourhood into a temporary temple exploring desire, shame, and transformation.

Developed during an artist residency at Nagapond in collaboration with rope performance artist Gula Malacca, the work drew from Southeast Asian spiritual cosmology and the Naga as a shapeshifting guardian of sacred thresholds. Through altar-making, ritual, sound, and embodied participation, the performer’s body became a living archive of guilt, longing, and liberation.
